Consider asking for daily specials at dinner. the menu can sometimes feel repetitive without them.

Unique period features, ample outdoor dining space, good transport links
Dusty rooms and dusty amenities need attention!!! Noise levels from the bar area disrupt relaxation!!! Heavy reliance on steep stairs makes it inconvenient!!! Some rooms lack natural light, affecting comfort!!!

I had a fantastic stay at The Malthouse. The outside bar created a lovely atmosphere, perfect for enjoying the evening. The food, especially dinner and breakfast, impressed me with its quality and presentation. The staff were welcoming and attentive, making sure everything went smoothly. The room was cozy, with a comfortable bed and all the necessary amenities. On the downside, the shower needed some grip aids, making it a bit tricky to climb in and out safely. Some areas of the room could use a more thorough cleaning, as I noticed some dust. the noise from the bar sometimes filtered into the room. Despite these issues, I can’t fault the food or the service, both really stood out during my visit.

Super comfy beds and an amazing brekkie!
We had a nice stay for a night after dropping our son at uni. The room was clean and had lovely views. Staff were super friendly and made us feel at home. The full English brekkie was the highlight, really the best we've had! Just a shame about the stairs. they're quite a trek with luggage.

Exceptional dining experience and lovely staff
I had a wonderful stay with a delightful evening meal and an impressive full English breakfast the next morning, showcasing the use of top-quality ingredients. The room was warm, clean, and offered beautiful views. The staff's attentiveness really made a difference. Everything was on point, but perhaps the road noise could be an issue for light sleepers. I look forward to coming back!

missingWrote a review on Jun 03noise disturbances
The single glazing of the windows and proximity to a busy road led to noticeable noise disturbances from traffic and barking dogs that could disrupt a good night's sleep. The cleanliness in the room left something to be desired, with an old tablet left on the floor and the furniture showing signs of age. Breakfast was a letdown. my cold pancake stack was just two frigid pancakes with a small amount of fruit and Nutella, and my husband's full breakfast left him wanting, lacking a proper toast portion and options like black pudding unless he paid extra. the coffee served was particularly unpleasant, making me think twice before trying other dining options.

Great hotel with free wi-fi in rooms, a lovely bar, and a restaurant serving delicious food. The staff once helped me return documents I left behind. You won't regret trying the tandoori lamb. I'm coming back for a weekend.
